Playing all the 60's, 70's pop and ballad hits ,
country and western standards and some traditional Irish songs
with some fine accordion playing by Mr. Sean Kenny.
February 2002 - The Jivenaires have reformed as a four-piece
with two of the original members of the band - Sean Kenny and
Frank Montgomery (Monty) and Paul Emmett and Flukie Gorman.
Pictured above is the band appearing in their first live
performance as they played for the Shannon Gaels Dinner Dance in
Glancys Bar, Restaurant and Live Music
Venue, Carrickonshannon.
Sean Kenny (Boyle) - Started his showband career
with the Jivenaires in his native Boyle, Co.Roscommon
and then moved to the Hi-Los. He played for a short
while with the Savoy Swing Seven before getting his big
break with the Times ( breakaways from the Drifters).
After the Times disbanded he played with the Swarbriggs
Band - fronted by Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg. Sean then
left Mullingar to play with Sean O'Dowd and Dingaling.
After a time with Dingaling, Sean returned to Mullingar
to run the Market Bar.He is now based in Boyle and has
enjoyed his return to the music scene and is looking
forward to meeting lots of his old fans.Sean is
lead-guitarist and vocalist with the reformed
Jivenaires.
Frank (Monty) Montgomery -
From Mullingar Co Westmeath, Monty joined the Jivenaires
having firstly played with the Frielmen from Westport and
also did a stint with the Tom Kelly band. After the break
up of the Jivenaires, Monty moved to the Cotton Mill Boys
who were one of the top country and western bands at that
time. Since then Monty has been gigging solo and is based
in Boyle, Co Roscommon. He is really looking forward to the
challenge and the opportunity of getting back on the road
again. Monty plays bass and rhythm guitar and is considered
to have one of the best country and western voices on the
circuit.
Flukie Gorman - The bands drummer. He has
extensive experience with many of the western bands.He is
known far and wide and is considered to be a drummer of
great talent.
Paul Emmett -Paul hails from Ballyfarnon, Boyle, Co
Roscommon but presently lives in Kildare. He has vast
experience on the showband scene altho he is the baby of
the bunch. He played with Rob Stronge and his band.
